The Ku-Ring-Gai Art Society (KAS) was founded in 1965 as a non-profit organisation which enhances the status of arts and artists in the community. It continues to provide a program of exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations which encourages artists to advance their skills. The Society fosters all branches of the visual arts and attracts artists from a wide spectrum of disciplines. An annual awards exhibition in July offers prizes to winners, with past judges including John Coburn, Frank Hodgkinson and Margaret Woodward. Current and past patrons include Meg Stewart, Lou Klepac, Margaret Coen, and Aldermen of Ku-Ring-Gai Council, among others.

Ku-ring-gai Art Society records, 1965-2020. The collection comprises minutes, correspondence, general files, governing documents, membership cards, attendance lists, publicity documents and news clippings. There is material related to Ku-ring-gai Art Society (KAS) exhibitions including artist resumés, invitations, catalogues, sales books and documents related to judging and guest speakers. Also included are photographs, mainly relating to KAS annual awards exhibitions showing prize winners and their artworks. There is a collection of thumbnail images of artworks uploaded by members to the KAS facebook site during the COVID-19 pandemic.
