​Birgit Neiser is a German-born photographer who worked as a freelance photographer for European magazines and in New York, before moving to Australia in 2003. She has previously documented the Sydney Fish Markets, exhibited photographs and produced a book Caught: Photographs of Life at Sydney Fish Market in 2009. She was a finalist in the City of Sydney's Art & About 'Australian Life' exhibition, 2018 .

Collection of one hundred digital photographs documenting New South Wales rural and suburban corner stores. Once a staple of every Australian neighbourhood, the traditional corner store (or ‘mixed business’) as we know it, has all but vanished, replaced by large 24/7 supermarkets, convenience stores, and online home delivery services.
Includes independent service stations, convenience stores, newsagencies, take-aways and supermarkets.
