    Jamie James (1968- ) is an Australian, Sydney-based documentary photographer who has been living in and collaborating with First Nations communities since the early 1980’s.

    James specialises in telling stories of identity and belonging from the margins, and commercially freelances in the health, education and social justice sectors. James has been a regular contributor to the Koori Mail newspaper, covering many significant Indigenous events.

  • Scope and Content
    Collection of photographs documenting activities of the First Nations LGBTQI+ community in New South Wales. Subjects include the 'Queers for Reconciliation' float in the 1998 Sydney Mardi Gras parade, the 2018 Miss First Nations drag queen competition, Moogahlin Performing Arts events such as the 2019 Gras Blak Nulla cabaret, Diva for The Day and the 2020 Blak queer writing workshop and the Bowman-Golding wedding ceremony at the MCA, Sydney, 2021.
