C. Moore Hardy was born in 1955 in Sydney, New South Wales. She initially studied nursing, then later completed studies in art at various schools including the National Art School, Darlinghurst. She established her own photographic studio, Starfish Studio, in Clovelly, and became a prominent photographer of the queer community in Sydney from the 1970s onwards. She documented the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, the NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby, Sydney Pride Centre, AIDS Council of New South Wales (ACON) and the Sydney Gay Games Bid, as well as her professional work as Registered Nurse and Clinical Coordinator at various Sydney hospitals.
