Photographs received by the Library in a modern window mount (now discarded). Titled in pencil on mount 'Natives on the Culgoa River, - Nth N.S.W., taken by Kanter c. 1896.
Titles for nos. 1 & 2 taken from inscriptions on the photographs. These captions reflect the creator's attitude or the period in which they were written but are now considered inappropriate in today's context.

Attributed to Gilsoe Kanter by vendor and Sotheby's auction house in 2005. Another photographer (or possibly two photographers) with surname Kanter was also operating in north western New South Wales in the 1890s. Herr Gus Kanter operated a photographic studio in Bourke, N.S.W. c. 1897 and Gustav Kanter in White Cliffs, N.S.W. c. 1901.
