The Australia-East Timor Association (New South Wales) (AETA NSW) was established in 1983 by Stephen Langford and Jefferson Lee to raise awareness of the political and humanitarian crisis in Timor-Leste and assist in the country's fight for independence.

The Clearing House for Archival Records on Timor or CHART's aim is to identify any privately-held Australian collections of documentary material on East Timor (1974-1999) and promote their preservation and access for future generations of Australians and East Timorese.

John Waddingham is founder of CHART (Clearing House for Archival Records on Timor). Collection came into his possession from Association members, Stephen Langford and Jefferson Lee.

Collection of papers relating to the activities of the Australia-East Timor Association (New South Wales) (AETA NSW) includes correspondence including from Noam Chomsky, events and activities, publicity, media, press releases, clippings and letters to the press, meeting minutes and agendas, publications including newsletters and member contributions to reports, books etc. and interaction with other organisations.
