Australian Soccer Football Association

The Australian Soccer Football Association was formed in 1921, with headquarters in Sydney. Acting as a governing body of soccer, it superseded the in 1911 established Commonwealth Football Association (later known as Football Association (Australia)).


Australian Soccer Federation

The Australian Soccer Federation, now known as Football Australia, was formed in 1961 in response to the disbandment of the Australian Soccer Football Association in 1960 (after having been suspended from FIFA for the poaching of overseas players). It wasn’t until 1963 that the Australian Soccer Federation was admitted to FIFA, when outstanding fines had been paid. The Australian Soccer Federation has undergone various name changes (1995: Soccer Australia; 2003: Australia Soccer Association (ASA); 2005: Football Federation Australia (FFA)) before becoming Football Australia in 2020.
