    In 1937 the Relief Works Regulation Committee was set up under the administration of the Department of Works and Local Government. Unemployed people were able to apply to the committee for consideration in being provided employment through relief work.

    Edwin Albert Barker was Conciliation Commissioner and Senior Conciliation Commissioner of N.S.W., 1943-1958. He later became an industrial consultant.

    This volume consists of the minutes of discussion about men who applied to the Relief Works Regulation Committee. It includes information on the applicant's living situation, age, health, previous employment, marital status, number of children and address. It also includes whether the applicant had already done relief work or received food relief. The decision to grant work relief or not is mentioned.
