  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

"Harry Edgecombe was a prolific painter in both oils and watercolour. He was a member of the Royal Art Society, a committee member of the Australian Watercolour and the Royal North Shore societies. Years spent in the Argentine (where he taught) and in Japan (on his way home to Australia when World War I interrupted travel) together with extensive travel in NSW inspired some of his most beautiful works. ... A large oil of St Mary Cathedral was given to the Catholic Church and some historic records of places such as Goat Island given to the National Trust. While weekends were spent painting, he worked as a commercial artist to support himself and his family."
