Sydney-based John Borthwick has worked as a travel writer and photographer for more than 30 years. He holds a PhD in travel literature, and his work is published regularly in travel magazines and major Australian newspapers. His photographs have been printed in over 60 Lonely Planet guides, including five front covers. Borthwick has received regular accolades in the annual Australian Society of Travel Writer’s Excellence awards, including Australian Travel Writer of the Year in 2016 and 1996, and Travel Photograph of the Year in 2001.
