  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    George Washington Lambert (1873-1930) was a Russian-born Australian artist who migrated to Sydney in 1887. He is known principally for portrait painting and as an official war artist attached to the AIF during World War 1.

    Maurice Prosper Lambert (1901-1964), son of George Lambert, was a British sculptor. Known mostly for his public sculptures, he held is first solo exhibition in 1929. He was a member of the Seven and Five Society and The London Group, and was Professor of Sculpture at the Royal Academy of Arts from 1950 to 1958.
