Peter Corris (8 May 1942 – 30 August 2018) was an Australian academic, historian, journalist and a novelest of historical crime fiction. Australia’s best known and most successful writer of crime fiction and he has established an international reputation in the genre. His private investigator, Cliff Hardy, has featured in over 30 novels and short story collections. Corris, a former academic and journalist, has also written a number of non-fiction books.
