  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Wallace "Wally" Carr (1954-2019) was a Wiradjuri man raised in Wellington, New South Wales. Carr became a professional boxer at 17 and fought 100 professional bouts, winning 53, losing 38 and drawing 9 over his 15 year career. Carr achieved 12 titles in six divisions and was inducted into the Australian National Boxing Hall of Fame, 2010. He served as an elder in his community and as a mentor, training young boxers and speaking to young people in corrections facilities.

    Gaele Sobott is a writer and poet, with a PhD in literature from the University of Hull, United Kingdom. She received a fellowship from the City of Sydney, 2020; and the Varuna Writers Space fellowship, 2021. Sobott is the founder and creative director of Outlandish Arts, a disabled-led arts organisation.
