    Roger Milliss (1934 -) graduated from the University of Sydney and initially worked as a teacher prior to becoming a journalist. He worked in both Moscow and Nairobi during the 1960s before returning to Australia to work at the Tribune. His published works include City on the Peel : a history of Tamworth and district, 1818-1976 (1980), Serpent's Tooth : An Autobiographical Novel (1984) and Waterloo Creek : the Australia Day massacre of 1838, George Gipps and the British conquest of New South Wales (1992). He has also written for television and radio.

    Peter Corris (1942 –2018) was an Australian academic, historian, journalist and a novelist of historical crime fiction. Educated at the University of Melbourne, Monash University and the Australian National University he became of Australia’s best known and most successful writers of crime fiction and established an international reputation in the genre. His private investigator, Cliff Hardy, has featured in over 30 novels and short story collections. Corris has also written several non-fiction books.

    Roger Milliss and Peter Corris were long-time friends and keen golfers who played together regularly during the 1990s.
