• ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY
  
  Pollie (Mary) Mease (1829-1873) was the aunt of Owen Blacket (1851-1931), son of Edmund Blacket (1817-1883) and Sarah Blacket née Mease (1818-1869). Pollie lived with the Blackets, and later married Rev. Joseph Barnier of St Barnabas’ Anglican Church, Broadway, Sydney. Owen Blacket later worked in his father’s architectural practice before qualifying as an engineer and was one of the founders of the Sydney Technical College.
  
  John Smith (1821-1885) was appointed Foundation Professor of Chemistry and Experimental Physics at the University of Sydney in 1852. He was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in 1856 and became a Fellow of Senate in 1861. Professor Smith was a skilled amateur photographer who recorded his friends, associates, and the construction of Edmund Blacket’s designs at the University of Sydney.
