  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Christina Huynh is an illustrator and artist based in Western Sydney of Vietnamese heritage. She is an award-winning artist who produces large scale murals throughout Sydney and NSW and works with local councils and schools, focusing on art-for-purpose and place-based projects and collaborations.

    'Grandma’s treasured shoes' is Christina Huynh’s first book. It tells the story of a little girl escaping the effects of war, using the shoes she wore as a theme. The story is inspired by the experience of refugee families fleeing war-torn countries during the fall of Saigon in 1975.

  • Scope and Content
    This collection contains original illustrations by Christina Huynh for children's book 'Grandma's treasured shoes' written by Coral Vass. It also includes two watercolour, pencil and ink samples sent to the publisher prior to Huynh’s commission, as well as preliminary pencil drawings and drawings on tracing paper.
