  • Scope and Content
    In the first of two interviews, former Callan Park nurse, Jess Learing, speaks about her on-the-job nursing training at Callan Park in the 1930s and her memories of staff, patients, and conditions. Jess also compares the living conditions and treatment of World War I veterans to that of general patients, including the veterans' access to the Hospital golf course, bowls green, and fishing course, and superior accommodation.
    Jess' daughter, Gail Leonard, was also present during the interview.
