- Scope and ContentThis first part of the interview with Noel Hazard, recorded on 13 December 2018, covers his early life in Mt Isa, his boxing career and experience as an Olympian, overseas travel, working life as an electrician, and the influences that led him to joining the Communist Party in Australia. Noel also describes the operations of the Tribune newspaper, and briefly recalls the Freedom Rides in 1965, and driving three Aboriginal men from Sydney to Canberra to establish the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in 1972. Noel’s friend Peter Rathborne was present for both interviews and at times he can be heard in the interview.
