  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Portside is a do-it-yourself skatepark located at an abandoned quarry site in Newport, New South Wales. Known as a local skateboarding site since the 2000s, skateboarders Adam Coule, Will Joseph, Oliver Wray and Nick Degotardi began to improve the site in 2009. Construction slowed in 2015 when Degotardi unexpectedly passed away. In January 2016, Shralpfest was held on site to commemorate Degotardi and the recently completed works on Portside.

Louise Whelan is a visual artist with a focus on photo media, projection, video art and installation. She won the Julia Margaret Cameron Award UK (Documentary and Editorial) in 2012 and photographs for the State Library of New South Wales, Western Australia, and National Library of Australia.
