ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Phyllis Mander-Jones began work in the Public Library of New South Wales in 1925. Her appointment as Mitchell Librarian came towards the end of 1947 and was awarded a grant to study in England in 1948. She spent a year, mainly in England, but also in the United States and Chile searching archives for documents relating to Australian history. After her retirement she returned to Great Britain to continue this work and in 1972 published 'Manuscripts in the British Isles relating to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific'
