ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

In 1943 singer Dorothy Helmrich formed the Council for the Encouragement of Music and the Arts (CEMA). In 1946 the New South Wales Division of CEMA changed its name to the Arts Council of Australia (NSW Division). In 1976, the name changed again to the Arts Council of New South Wales Ltd. In 2000 the Arts Council of New South Wales began trading as Regional Arts NSW, and in 2004 the name was officially changed to Regional Arts NSW Ltd.
