Peter Charles Alexander, born 1915, was a qualified accountant. Since retirement from the Australian Public Service, he continued work in an Honorary capacity as National Secretary for the R.A.A.F. Association and of the Australian Veterans and Defense Services Council.

He was also involved in voluntary public work with the Polish, Scottish and Celtic communities in Australia. Through the Polish branch of the R.A.A.F Association, he was accorded decoration by the Polish Government in Exile in London the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Gold Cross of Merit, as well as honorary membership of Polish Societies of a cultural and ex-service nature.

As foundation member of the Scottish Australian Heritage Council, he helped to organise Scottish week and other events. He was also Chair of the selection Committee for the creation of Australian tartan worn by Sir Ninian Stephen as Governor-General. He founded the Council for Scots Gaelic and was the first co-ordinator of its radio program on 2EA.

As Chairman of the 'Chair of the Celtic Studies Appeal', he helped establish a degree-level teaching of Celtic Studies at the University of Sydney, and became Deputy President of its Celtic Studies Foundation. He was convener of the Celtic Council of Australia, and was involved in arranging a Ring of Standing Stones in Glen Innes N.S.W. as a Celtic gathering spot for events.
