The Council of Social Service of New South Wales (NCOSS) was founded in 1934 during the Great Depression to coordinate social and community services in New South Wales. Serving as the peak body for the state's social services sector, NCOSS’s primary role is to develop policies and programs aimed at improving the social conditions of the community, while also providing advocacy, leadership, and information to the social and community services sector. NCOSS collaborates with its members, the sector, the New South Wales Government and other relevant agencies to address current and emerging social, systemic, and operational issues.
