  • Scope and Content
Autograph letter, from Élisabeth de Freycinet to her son Henri de Freycinet at Rochefort, sent from Freycinet [family château], 12 November 1818 (3.5 pages on a single folded sheet, seal, postmarks, with Laage archive stamp, Carton 13, Dossier 274 C-6), in part transcribing a letter to her husband from Rose (with an addition by Louis at the end) sent from Île Bourbon [Réunion], dated 24 July 1818. Rose gives news of Charles, whom they saw in Mauritius and who has now safely arrived in India. She also comments on the ship’s copper sheathing that was of such poor quality that a large part of it had to be removed in Mauritius. Louis adds that they are eating well and will write again from Timor in about four months.
