    Autograph letter signed, from Louis de Freycinet to his brother Henri de Freycinet [at Île Bourbon], sent from Paris, 9 April 1824 (4 pages on a single folded sheet, with Laage archive stamp, Dossier 173 C-6), concerning the news just to hand of the unexpected death of their younger brother Charles and also the death of the six-year-old eldest child (a son) of their youngest brother Casimir. There is news of other deaths among their relatives: “On dirait que la mort plane sur notre famille” [“It looks like death is hovering over our family”]. Louis also mentions a seven-year-old boy that Charles had with a Negress.
