  Debated across the country for many years, the question of same sex marriage was put to a postal vote. The plebiscite was administered by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. On the day the results were released there were gatherings all over the country. One of the largest, held in Prince Alfred Park, Sydney drew large crowds.
