    Laurence Halloran ran Dr. Halloran's Establishment for Liberal Education, also known as Sydney Grammar School, from 1819 to 1825. Francis Lord, son of Simeon Lord, was born 1812.

    Black & white photographs of obverse and reverse of silver medal.

    Obverse
    Young boy being led by master wearing Roman attire in Roman setting. Legend: Ardua prima via est sed fit labor ipse voluptas [At first the way is hard, but labour itself becomes a delight].

    Reverse
    Legend: Ingenuo, magna que spei adolescenti Francisco Lord, propter insignes in artibus progressus, signum hoc honorarium dedit praeceptor ejus, et amicus, Laurentius Hollaran. [Upright young man of great future Francis Lord, on account of his distinguished progress in his studies, his praeceptor and friend Laurence Halloran gave this mark of honour] S.S.L.P. ?] 1822.
