Peter Halas was born in Budapest, Hungary, October 1939. His mother and maternal grandparents were executed by the Germans during World War II. He experienced the communist takeover of Hungary, 1949 and the revolution, 1956, then fled to Australia in 1957 and started working as a salesman. In 1975, Halas established his own swimwear manufacturing and marketing business, which would become Seafolly. His son Anthony, took over the running of the business in the late 1990s and he sold a majority of his shares in 2014, but still remains on the Board. Halas now volunteers with 'Courage to Care', an organisation that educates about the dangers of prejudice, racism and discrimination.

Dr Margaret Leask has been an oral historian and performing arts historian since 2004. She has recorded oral history interviews for the National Institute of Dramatic Art, National Film and Sound Archive, Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Opera House, the National Library, Australian Theatre for Young People and Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust.
