  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

The Macleay River is located in the Northern Tablelands and Mid North
Coast districts of New South Wales. The Thunggutti/Dunghutti (also known as Dhanggati or Dainggatti) people are the traditional custodians of the Macleay region.

Charles H Kerry became a partner in A H Lamartine’s photographic studio in 1883. When
Lamartine absconded with Kerry’s capital Kerry continued to work and eventually turned the studio into the colony’s largest photographic organisation. In 1885 he was asked to prepare an
exhibit of Aboriginal portraits and corroborees photographs for the 1886 Colonial and Indian
    Exhibition in London.
