This oral history project was initiated by Carol McKirdy whereby staff and students of the Sutherland TAFE Literacy-Languages Department were interviewed. The interviews discussed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic from the teacher and student perspectives. Teachers were chosen based on their capacity to communicate and reflect upon complex information. All teachers had first hand experience teaching students in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Chosen students were studying at Level 3 English/Literacy and could communicate effectively in English. The chosen students were a range of long term and recent migrants.

Carol McKirdy is a professional oral historian and a substantive Head Teacher in Literacy at Sutherland TAFE. She is responsible for the Languages programs, including the Australian Migrant English Program at Loftus Campus.
