  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Alice Strutt has been a volunteer with the Rural Fire Service (RFS) for almost 40 years. She was the first woman to join the Temagog RFS in 1981 and is now the Captain of the Communications Brigade in Kempsey, where she works in coordinating responses to fires in the area. In November 2019 after working a night shift at the Kempsey RFS Control Centre, Alice’s home was threatened by the Carrai East fire. She escaped to Kempsey before the fire came through and found out later that her property had been saved, thanks to the work of the local brigade and her extensive preparation which included containment lines and clearing. Alice is also a volunteer with Stop, Revive, Survive, and has previously been the President of the Gosford Art Society.
