Tom Williams’ art practice explores relationships between people, environments and social frameworks through expanded documentary photographic projects. In 2019 he was the inaugural recipient of the NSW Minister for the Arts' Award for Visual Storytelling for his Family Album project, culminating in an exhibition at the State Library of New South Wales.

His work has appeared in numerous publications, including The Guardian Australia, Sydney Morning Herald, Monocle Magazine, Corpus Magazine and Neighbourhood Paper. His photographic series have also been published in New Philosopher Magazine, Take Magazine, Good Weekend and The Big Issue.

Tom Williams' work has also been exhibited in solo exhibitions at The Colour Factory Gallery (Melbourne), Photospace Gallery, School of Art, ANU (Canberra), and Wollongong City Gallery. His long term project 'Neighbourhood' was awarded the 7th CCP Documentary Photography Award.
