- Collection historyThe original collection of 42 Paraguay tapes recorded by Anne Whitehead was used in the ABC-Radio National Social History series Paradise Lost. The series, produced by Jenny Palmer and Jill Lennon, was written and presented by Anne Whitehead, and was re-broadcast by Radio National as three one-hour programs in the series Life and Times in 2012. - Scope and ContentThis collection contains comprises 42 sound cassettes of oral history interviews recorded by Anne Whitehad in 1982 and 1989 with descendants of the Paraguay expedition in Queensland and Paraguay, and others with connections to that expedition, including one tape labelled 'Eric Lane inserts'. Interviewees include eleven men and women who had grown up at New Australia and Cosme when they were still socialist colonies. From New Australia: Margaret Riley (née Hoare); Ricardo Smith; Dorothy McCreen-Smith; Nigel Kennedy. From Cosme: William Wood; George Titilah; Alex Wood; Norman Wood; Rod McLeod; Wallace Wood; Rose Menmuir.
