Gerrit Fokkema (1954-) studied photography in Canberra. Between 1975 and 1987 he worked as a staff photographer for the 'Canberra Times', 'Sydney Morning Herald', and 'Good Weekend Magazine'. His work is held by the Australian National Gallery and the Art Gallery of NSW, and has been exhibited at the Australian Centre for Photography and commercial galleries. He has run his own photography business for more than 30 years.

Westconnex is a project to build a 33-kilometre motorway network, mostly underground, in Sydney.

The Sydney Light Rail network comprises three passenger routes servicing Sydney: the Inner West Line, completed in 2014, and the CBD and South East lines, completed in 2020.
