  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Antigone Kefala was born in Braila, Romania, in 1935. Died 3 December 2022. Her parents were Greek, and the family moved to Greece then to New Zealand after World War II. After graduating with an Arts degree and MA from Victoria University, Wellington, she moved to NSW in the early 1960s. Kefala has produced works in poetry, short fiction, novellas, novels, essays and autobiographical works, including a selection from her diaries, and is widely represented in Australian anthologies.

  • Scope and Content
    The collection comprises correspondence with publishers, authors, academics, artists, musicians and photographers, including Fay Zwicky, Elizabeth Harrower, Randolph Stow, Ivor Indyk and Peter Lyssiotis, among others; copy-edited and annotated manuscripts proofs; reviews and typed journals. Also includes several photographs and drawings.
