  David Rowe (1968-) is a contemporary Australian political cartoonist. Rowe’s family migrated to Canberra from the Netherlands when he was four years of age. Rowe studied art history and policitical science at the University of Canberra, and contributed cartoon strips for the student newspaper. In the 1980s, he produced freelance illustrations for The Canberra Times, later accepting a full-time position with the paper as a graphic designer. In 1992, he began freelancing for various London magazines including The Independent, Formula 1 and Times Literary Supplement. He returned to Australia in 1993 after accepting a full-time position at the Australian Financial Review as an editorial cartoonist.

• Scope and Content
  This collection consists of original drawings of cartoons by David Rowe published in newspapers Australian Financial Review, Canberra Times and the Sunday Herald from 1990s to 2016, including some sports magazines. The cartoons cover a range of Australian social and political issues and topics including climate change, immigration, gay and lesbian rights, Indigenous rights, school funding, terrorism, economics, laws, elections and government. This collection also includes a number of drawings that comment on cultural life in Australia, sports and recreation, as well as famous personalities.
