    J.C. (Jane Catherine) Burke, author, was born in Sydney, New South Wales. She trained as a nurse, and specialised in oncology in Sydney and London. Aged 35, she wrote her debut novel 'White Lies', which was written under the guidance of an Australian Society of Authors mentorship and was awarded a Children's Book Council of Australia Notable Book in 2003. She has published many award-winning novels, with numerous international translations, including 'The Story of Tom Brennan' and 'Pig Boy'. She has also written scripts for film and television.
