    March 1947
A snapshot taken in a Sydney street of Captain "Jock" Laird and his faithful "crew" Sanasan. Captain Laird, at the outbreak of the Pacific war, was Master of the New Guinea Administration vessel "Nereus". Sanasan was the only memeber of his crew who did not desert. They had many adventures together and Sanasan was awarded the Loyal Service Medal. The story is told in January Pacific Islands Monthly.
