  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    The Sydney Bush Walkers was founded in 1927. Among its aims was the formation of an institution of mutual aid for recreational walkers in regard to routes and ways and means of appreciating the great outdoors. It also aimed to encourage a regard for the welfare and preservation of the natural environment. The club held regular meetings and its activities included organised bush walks, annual reunions, publication of 'The Sydney Bushwalker', as well as social functions and concerts.

    Trip files compiled by Dennis Morgan while he was a member of the Sydney Bush Walkers, containing trip reports, photocopied marked-up maps, topographic maps, photographic prints and negatives (colour),1994-1997. Some of the trip files also include newspaper and magazine clippings from a later date (2014, 2018, 2019).

    Contains a trip report, a Blue Mountains tourist map, a photocopied marked-up map, a brochure, a flyer and a printout of a memorial page for a former Sydney Bush Walkers member with a message by Dennis Morgan (2018).

    Contains 3 photographic prints and 4 negatives. Also included is a note: “Large collection of photographs and negatives including the written log and marked up topographic map are missing.”

    13. “Sydney Bush Walkers. Blue Mountains National Park, 6 November 1994. The intended route was Bells Line off road, Birrabang Canyon, Birrabang Gorge, Grose River, Pierces Pass and return. The trip was called off at Birrabang Canyon due to very high wind.”
    Contains a printout of a marked-up map, a Sydney Bush Walkers programme for spring 1994 and a note: “Group photograph, written log and marked up topographical map are missing.” Also included are 10 photographic prints and 10 negatives.

    14. “Sydney Bush Walkers. Blue Mountains Park, 20 November 1994. Wentworth Falls, Jamieson Creek, Hippocrene Falls, Lindeman Pass, Roberts Pass, Leura Waterfalls and return.”
    Contains 7 photographic prints and 23 negatives. Also included is a note: “Many photographs including the written log and marked up topographical map are missing.”
