Peter Sim was born in Newcastle in 1927. After graduating from Sydney University in 1949 with an engineering degree he worked for CSIRO Division of Applied Physics, National Standards Laboratory as a Senior Research Scientist for 30 years. He was a lifelong old car enthusiast and keen photographer and from 1953 to 1986 was associated with the Veteran Car Club of Australia (NSW), the Rolls Royce Owners Club (NSW), the Bentley Drivers Club (NSW) and the Vintage Vehicle Club of Australia (NSW). He died in 2011.

Approximately 1000 mounted Kodachrome colour slides of vintage cars in four custom built boxes,1953-1986. The slides depict individual cars in the context of rallies, tours, and shows, representing Peter Sim’s involvement in the car club movement. The collection has been organised with each slide captioned with the type of car it depicts.
