  "Carronia. Carronia multisepalea. William Carron discovered this uncommon rainforest vine while surveying forests in the Bellingen and Clarence River districts of northern N.S.W. in 1872. Carronia is the host plant for larvae of the endangered species Phyllodes imperialis or Pink underwing moth".

'The genus I have dedicted to William Carron, the painstaking observer of plants of tropical eastern Australia during Kennedy's most unfortunate journey in the year 1848, the only narrator of this very expedition, and continually to the present time, a discoverer or observer of many Australian plants, just as he was for a long while a contributor to the collections of Charles Moore'. Dr. Ferdinand von Mueller 1875".
