    Colin Edward Hopkins owned Pacific Sales & Service Station in Bondi, Sydney. He was declared bankrupt and had moved to New Guinea by 1934.

    Bulolo, situated on the Bulolo River in the Morobe province of New Guinea, was an important gold dredging centre from the 1930s to the 1950s.

  • Scope and Content
    Letters received by Colin E. Hopkins, of 4 Denham Court, Denham Street, Bondi, from prospectors, partners and shareholders, together with notes, accounts and receipts, concerning gold mining in the Bulolo region of Papua New Guinea. The letters, most dated 1931-1932, document Hopkins' interests in the Papua New Guinea gold rush and the activities of the small-scale operating syndicate with which he was involved.
