The State Library of NSW commenced the Women in Sport Oral History Project in 2018, aiming to document women's experiences of participating in sport in NSW by recording interviews with women who have succeeded at a high level in either individual or team sport. Tanya Evans, who was commissioned to conduct the interviews, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Modern History at Macquarie University, NSW. She is also Director of the Centre for Applied History and a steering committee member of the International Federation of Public History.
