George Wyndham (1801-1870), winegrower and pastoralist, was born at Dinton, Wiltshire, England. He married Margaret Jay in 1827, and emigrated to Australia in the same year, where he established the properties Dalwood, on the Hunter River, and Keelgyrah and Bukkulla, in the New England District, New South Wales.

George and Margaret had eleven sons and two daughters. George died in Sydney on 24 December 1870, three months after the death of Margaret. The properties passed out of Wyndham hands, except for Bukkulla which was later reacquired. The Dalwood vineyard was bought by Penfolds Wines Ltd.
