  The watercolour drawing ‘Elves and Fairies have thee in their keeping’ was originally exhibited in Ida Rentoul Outhwaite’s first exhibition held at the Fine Art Society’s Room in Collins St, Melbourne in September 1916. The watercolour was listed as no. 73 in the September 1916 catalogue and was sold at the exhibition.

• Scope and Content
  A watercolour drawing of wash, pen and ink with pencil underdrawing. There is a pencil sketch of a child asleep in bed on verso of watercolour.
  
  The drawing depicts delicate fairies, guarded by gun toting pixies framing a rising moon. A young girl sleeps on the floor of a wood as the fairies play music around her.
