John Andrews AO (b. 1933), architect, graduated from the University of Sydney in 1956 and gained his Master of Architecture from Harvard University in 1958. He moved to Toronto, Canada, working for an architectural firm before establishing John Andrews Architects. In 1970 he returned to Australia permanently, renaming his firm John Andrews International. His major projects include: Scarborough College, Ontario; a student residence at the University of Guelph, Ontario; Miami Seaport Passenger Terminal; Gund Hall at Harvard University; Cameron Offices, A.C.T.; CN Tower, Toronto; King George Tower, Sydney; student residences at the Australian National University and Canberra College of Advanced Education; Belconnen Town Centre retail mall, Canberra; University of Queensland Chemical Engineering Building; Griffith University School of Australian Environmental Studies; Intelsat headquarters, Washington D.C.; and Sydney Convention Centre, Darling Harbour. He was awarded the R.A.I.A. Gold Medal in 1980.
