  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

In 1948, the Australian Sporting Car Club obtained a disused World War II airfield at Mount Druitt, located 38 kilometres west of Sydney. The original circuit only used the landing strip but in 1952 the race track was extended into an adjoining piece of land which increased the length of the track to 2 1/4 miles. 1952 also saw control of the circuit pass to the newly formed Australian Racing Drivers Club which held about 25 race meetings over the next five years.
