  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Frank G. O'Brien Ltd was a Sydney design and retail firm working in specialty glass, laminates, furniture and shop-fitting, undertaking many commissions for milk bars and coffee shops. It later prospered as O'Brien Glass.

Hungarian-born artist Frederick B. Lamberger (1907-1986) emigrated to Sydney in 1950. He opened Espresso Rialto Coffee Lounge in 1956 and ran it for three years before selling it and travelling for 18 months. On his return, seeing that the business had closed down, he bought it again, renamed it "Espresso Ginza" and sold it a few months later at great profit.
