    Rex Rienits (1909-1971) was an Australian author, playwright and editor. He was born in Dubbo, New South Wales where he began his career as a journalist. Rienits later held executive positions on newspapers in Sydney and Melbourne before leaving for London in 1949 to become a freelance writer. He worked for the BBC and also as a writer of film scripts. He returned to Australia in 1959 to become television script editor for the ABC, a position he held for two years.

  • Scope and Content
    Two sets of manuscript notes (6 pages and 5 pages) made by Rex Rienits while writing his radio play adaptation of Ion Idriess' biography of John Flynn, ‘Flynn of the inland’ and found interleaved in Rienits' personal copy of the book. The play was written for BBC radio and aired January-March, 1963. The collection also includes a sales receipt for the book.
