The Australian Marriage Law Postal survey was a national survey that gauged support for legalising same sex marriage. The survey was held via the postal service between 12 September-7 November 2017. The survey asked the question "Should the law be changed to allow same-sex couples to marry?" Following two months of campaigning from both sides, the results of the survey were announced on 15 November 2017. The survey returned a 61.7% yes response. There were celebrations across Australia, including a march along Oxford Street and Taylor Square, Sydney, on 15 November 2017.
